
Rupak Thapaliya
Senior Associate, Transaction Acceleration Group
Rupak Thapaliya is a Senior Associate with CEBA’s Transaction Acceleration Group in the Washington, D.C. office. Rupak focuses his work on the Clean Energy Buyers Institute’s Beyond the Megawatt program, where he works with the CEBA and Clean Energy Buyers Institute communities and a variety of stakeholders to find ways to maximize the environmental and societal benefits of the renewable energy transition and accelerate the understanding of how large buyers can drive greater material impact through their energy procurement.
Prior to joining CEBA, Rupak spent more than a decade working to balance conservation and development of renewable energy through policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration. In various roles at Defenders of Wildlife and American Rivers he advocated for policies to support responsible development of wind, solar, and hydropower as well as advanced strategies to avoid, minimize, and mitigate for harmful impacts of renewable energy development and operation on natural resources. Rupak has also worked to conserve and protect land and water in the Upper Midwest.
He holds degrees in environmental sciences, management, and policy from Kathmandu University, Luther College, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
