CEBA’s Statement on passage of California Assembly Bill 825 (AB 825), enabling an expanded Western grid

On passage of Assembly Bill 825, Nidhi Thakar, Senior Vice President, today noted:

CEBA applauds the legislative leaders in California in forging this landmark agreement to expand the Western grid. This collaborative effort is a critical step toward delivering more affordable, reliable, and clean energy across the West — directly benefiting Californians, including many CEBA members who are some of the state’s largest energy users with ambitious carbon reduction goals. We look forward to Governor Newsom’s signature in driving this affordability bill into law.

The West-Wide Governance Pathways Initiative is designed to facilitate the sharing and trading of clean energy with other Western states. AB 825 represents California’s commitment to a broader, coordinated energy market that will serve as a model for inter-state regional coordination to deliver cost effective, reliable carbon emissions-free electricity as we experience unprecedented load growth in the West and nationally.

CEBA remains committed to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the Pathways Initiative.
