Clean Energy Buyers Alliance Announces Interim Leader as CEO Plans Parental Leave

CEBA. Clean Energy Buyers Association.

Washington, DC – The Clean Energy Buyers Alliance (Alliance), a consortium of two organizations, the Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) and the Clean Energy Buyers Institute (CEBI), demonstrates its commitment to work-life integration by implementing a parental leave policy at the executive level for the first time. Previously used by several staff, CEBA’s policy provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for mothers and fathers to take time off when a new child comes into the family, by birth, adoption, legal guardianship or fostering.

“As an organization, we recognize the importance of taking care of yourself and your loved ones,” said Miranda Ballentine, the Clean Energy Buyers Alliance CEO. “We have provided our staff with the flexibility they need to balance their personal and professional lives through our policy since 2019. I am privileged to have the same opportunity as I expand my own family, and in doing so hope to signal to other executives that it is possible to balance both family and career.”

In line with its commitment to its employees, CEBA and CEBI’s Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team has created the infrastructure to support Miranda’s parental leave beginning in May. During her absence, Kevin Hagen will serve as interim CEO. Hagen was formerly the Vice President of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) Strategy at Iron Mountain and has extensive experience in sustainable business strategies and corporate social responsibility. Kevin has been deeply involved in the community since its inception as a member of the Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and as an instrumental thought partner in the development of key programs.

“We are delighted to have Kevin Hagen as our interim CEO,” Michael Terrell and Marty Pickett, Chairs of the CEBA and CEBI Board of Directors. “Kevin’s extensive experience in ESG strategy and sustainability, coupled with his passion for creating positive change, makes him the perfect fit. We have full confidence in his ability to lead our organization during this transition given his deep connection to the community.”

The Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team will partner with both Miranda and Kevin on the transition over the upcoming weeks. CEBA’s parental leave policy and commitment to work-life integration demonstrate its dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment. The Alliance continues to prioritize the well-being of its employees and the community, as they work towards a carbon-free energy future.
