Markus Walther

Director, Global Clean Energy, Climate & Standards

Markus leads CEBA’s global clean energy policy and market portfolio. His areas of focus include carbon policy and standards, impacts of carbon disclosure requirements, and voluntary corporate clean energy procurement. Before joining CEBA, he was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey, where he advised clients on climate and sustainability strategy. His areas of expertise included net zero targets, climate risk assessments and disclosure, and clean energy. Markus previously served as Director of Product Development at a startup, where he led the development of TCFD scenario analysis tools with a consortium of climate scientists and industry experts. His experience also includes assessing utility regulations and developing financial forecasts at Exelon, and covering Energy, Utilities, and Industrials as an ESG analyst for Calvert Research and Management, a mutual fund.

Markus holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, a Master of Science in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Developmental Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
