CEBA Welcomes Executive Action to Pause Solar Tariffs
Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2022) – The Clean Energy Buyers Association welcomes the White House’s executive action taken earlier today to restore a strong measure of certainty to the solar energy market, including to clean energy customers seeking to buy and use solar energy. The thoughtful solution offered by the Administration today to provide a two-year tariff exemption and encourage greater long-term domestic clean energy manufacturing is a win-win and allows market participants to resume progress toward ambitious goals.
Clean energy customers were concerned about their ability to meet their own clean energy goals given solar transactions have made up 80% of recent clean energy customer transactions. Today’s action provides the needed stability for customers to resume meeting their own goals, while also recognizing the grid benefits solar can provide to reliability, as the investigation concludes.
