CEBA Welcomes the Pivotal Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 to Reduce Energy Costs and Accelerate Clean Energy
The Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) applauds Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Senator Manchin for continuing to work toward a deal to deliver the largest investment in clean energy and carbon emission reduction in history.
This critical act will create investments that reduce customer energy bills while building up domestic clean energy industries and supply chains and incentivize a broad range of tools to decarbonize the power sector. These long-anticipated and necessary actions will accelerate clean energy and support communities through the clean energy transition.
Clean energy is a business imperative across all 50 states. CEBA, which represents the world’s largest clean energy customers, applauds the diligent efforts to reach this pivotal deal, and we will work to support the package across the finish line.
The long-term extension and expansion of clean energy tax incentives, including for next-generation technologies, are the biggest drivers of emissions reductions on the table, and these investments provide much needed market predictability, technology inclusivity and clean energy cost reductions. This package helps unleash customer demand and leverages private investment in clean energy, generating jobs, reducing energy costs, fighting energy price inflation and shoring up energy security.
As we said back in July 2021 at the beginning of budget reconciliation negotiations, “American businesses recognize that climate change is an existential threat to the planet, people, and our future. Clean energy is, and will remain, one of the critical solutions to addressing the climate crisis. With rapidly accelerating climate impacts, time is of the essence to move the country’s power sector on a path of decarbonization.”
With this deal, we come closer to that reality. This is must-pass legislation.
