Clean Energy Buyers Alliance Appoints Eric Gibbs as Senior Vice President of Global Programs
Mr. Gibbs brings 25 years of global experience in energy development and climate change mitigation across the private sector, electric utility trade associations, and non-profit space.
Washington, DC – The Clean Energy Buyers Alliance (Alliance), a consortium of two organizations, the Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) and the Clean EnergyBuyers Institute (CEBI), announces the appointment of Eric Gibbs as Senior Vice President of Global Programs. Eric brings a wealth of experience in global program development and executive leadership, across a wide spectrum of energy and climate change to the organization.
“We are thrilled to have Eric join as the Senior Vice President of Global Programs for CEBA and CEBI,” said Miranda Ballentine, CEO of Clean Energy Buyers Alliance. “His extensive experience in program development and executive leadership, combined with his passion for global clean energy deployment, will be invaluable to our organization as we work towards a sustainable future.”
Eric brings a unique background to the Clean Energy Buyers Alliance. Starting his career in the private sector, he brings hands-on experience in successfully deploying large scale energy infrastructure projects around the world—from financing to regulatory design to deployment. Eric has also worked in the trade association environment through NRECA International where he led global business and program development initiatives—from identification of key opportunities to market entry strategies, scoping missions, negotiation of teaming and partnership agreements, development of technical and financial proposals, and relationship management with US government agencies, multilateral and bilateral donors, and private companies.
In his most recent role as Chief Program Officer at CLASP, Eric was responsible for the development and execution of the global energy efficiency and climate programs, which grew exponentially during his tenure to deliver policy outcomes resulting in massive energy savings and carbon emissions reductions. He led the expansion of the organization’s geographic portfolio into countries throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and supervised the development of diverse teams that collaborated across offices on four continents.
“Advancing sustainable energy solutions on a global scale has always been my professional passion and ultimate goal,” said Eric Gibbs. ” I am excited to bring my skills and experience to the Alliance to help scale its global programming, and cultivate a global community of clean energy buyers and their supply chain partners to drive clean energy development and deployment around the world.”
As Senior Vice President of Global Programs, Eric will be responsible for CEBA and CEBI’s impact-oriented global program strategy, including development and implementation, fundraising, and management. The current Global Program portfolio includes key collaborative engagements with public and private organizations, like the Clean Energy Demand Initiative Secretariat formed with the U.S. Department of State, and the emerging Supply Chain Initiative intended to accelerate reduction of Scope 3 emissions through education and engagement with supply chain partners.
