Empowering Global Supply Chains Through the Clean Energy Procurement Academy
As we embark on another packed year for CEBA’s Clean Energy Procurement Academy, let’s take a quick look at the past year of remarkable progress.
Our goal
Supply chain emissions account for the majority of corporate carbon footprints. Addressing them is essential for meeting global climate goals. Yet, suppliers often face barriers to clean energy procurement: limited market options, regulatory complexity, and lack of technical expertise, among other issues.
The Academy tackles these challenges head-on by providing practical knowledge and fostering peer learning. Our work is not just about education; it’s about enabling action that drives measurable progress toward decarbonization.
Increasing our audience
In 2025, we expanded our reach, deepened our engagement, delivered training programs that are shaping the future of corporate decarbonization. We also achieved a major milestone: hosting 14 in-person workshops across five priority markets. This included successful launches in India, South Korea, and Indonesia, along with continuing education in Mainland China and Vietnam.
Last year, our in-person workshops trained a total of 375 participants, representing suppliers critical to the clean energy transition. These suppliers are part of the value chains of some of the world’s largest companies, and their ability to act on clean energy procurement is essential to meeting global climate goals.
Enabling clean energy readiness
Policymakers, energy developers, and local market experts came together at these trainings to share their knowledge and suggestions with the attendees with the goal to support their decarbonization efforts. Attendees gained foundational knowledge on the energy system and corporate clean energy procurement mechanisms available in specific market, including the latest trends and insights for implementing each mechanism.
The impact is clear: 92% of participants reported feeling more prepared to procure clean energy after completing Academy training, a powerful indicator that education is resulting in readiness to execute clean energy procurement.
Expanding digital channels
In addition to in-person workshops, last year the Academy launched the Digital Clean Energy Procurement Academy in India, South Korea, and Indonesia, with localized curriculum updates for courses in Mainland China and Vietnam. While the Academy’s in-person workshops offer invaluable networking and collaboration, e-learning courses enable scale and accessibility, providing suppliers with flexible, self-paced learning opportunities. The e-learning courses feature interactive modules, multilingual content, and practical exercises designed to mirror the depth of in-person sessions.
By the end of 2025, 406 participants had completed Digital Academy courses, with 62.2% reporting increased confidence in and/or understanding of clean energy procurement upon completion. CEBA’s Digital Academy removes geography as a barrier to knowledge, helping us reach suppliers in remote locations and smaller organizations that may not have the resources to attend in-person events.
Building on strengths
As we look ahead to 2026, the Academy will continue to build on this year’s momentum by continuing to host in-person trainings, expanding digital offerings, and piloting supplier support beyond education and training. We extend our gratitude to the Academy’s Steering Committee, participants, trainers, partners, and stakeholders who made 2025 a success. Together, we can turn education into action and action into impact.
